I took lessons for numerous years as a child and teenager and wanted to return to my piano pursuits having been away from the piano for about 20 years. When I purchased my piano at Onofrio Piano in Denver, Marie McDonald-Frame came highly recommended to me and I have now been taking piano lessons from her since March of 2007. Within the first year of my lessons some of my neighborhood mothers heard me practicing and I have now been teaching a group of 6-11 year old's for the past for 4 years! I've found Marie to be an amazing teacher with all ages and levels. She benefits from her 40 years of teaching experience, a fantastic reference library, plus a fabulous piano. From teaching myself, I've certainly learned that every student is different and will learn in a different way from the next. This is one of Marie's definite strengths. No matter what technical or musical difficulty I may be struggling with, she tries various approaches until we are able to overcome that particular issue. While she incorporates the importance of theory into every lesson, she also wants each of her student to be passionate about the music itself. Due to this she is more than happy to teach several types of music to each student so that they can come to love the music themselves. She is truly talented herself - most certainly as a pianist, but also as a singer and simply as a musician. The combination of these qualities allows her to truly coach me through each piece and through each lesson. By her encouragement and subtle pushing she has been able to draw out abilities and musicianship I never thought I could achieve. Each and every week I walk away from my lesson completely inspired, rejuvenated and looking forward to the next lesson.
