Marie is a professional musician who has studied and taught piano for over 50 years. She also concertized through much of her life. Marie’s education includes two scholarships and first place performance opportunities as the youngest pianist at Interlochen National Music Camp. She was also offered an honorary masters program at Indiana University. While she is conservatory trained by European teachers and believes in teaching the fundamentals of music to afford students the greatest benefits in learning, she also believes that students can mature in limitless areas. Many of her students have gone on to study Jazz, Pop, New Age and Classical interests. Her teaching philosophy is one that encompasses students of all ages and abilities. She knows that because only a few pianists ever go on to a concert career or Carnegie Hall, all students deserve a teacher who believes in them and helps them become the best they can be – however that level is defined. Adults enjoy studying with Marie because of their desire to challenge and improve their mental acuity and realize a feeling of accomplishment at the same time.

Her advanced knowledge offers beginners and young children a remarkable learning opportunity at an early developmental age which we all know can transfer to myriad other studies like math and conventional school courses. Marie’s teaching style encourages students to think through solutions rather than only giving assignments. She has special skills in teaching students how to overcome technical difficulties and maximize their abilities in producing sound quality and expression. When searching for a good fit with a teacher, patience is certainly an important element for an instructor to possess. While patience is certainly one of her strong suits, an added bonus is that Marie has endless “teaching tools” up her sleeve to accommodate the fact that different people learn in different ways. As a result the student experiences a custom program to integrate with his or her individual learning style. All piano lessons are at least one hour per week year round in a one-on-one private lesson format. Intense “piano camps” are also available. If you would like a complementary first meeting/interview/lesson with Marie please contact her for an appointment.
