Special Events

Marie’s biggest special event is the Holiday Christmas Piano Party held each year in December on the Saturday after all students have had 2 lessons. The time is always from 10:00a.m. - Noon (No interference with the Bronco’s schedule!) This is an exciting time of year and is totally voluntary on the student’s part. Marie has no interest in pressuring students through the anxiety of performance unless they choose to do so. While she will encourage them to show others their progress, it is not mandatory. Unlike a more traditional “Recital” venue, the setting is somewhat casual and students actually raise their hands to “go next”. There is no written program and the spirit is to offer a performance opportunity without big pressure. In years past, this is usually hosted by the family of one of the students that has a grand piano (needed for more advanced students). If no one in Marie’s program has a grand piano of any size, then Marie will hold the party in her home. Simple snacks/ punch before and after the party are provided by the hosts. We are in our 12 th year of this celebration with every year being a grand success and fun for all! For those who choose to be more serious about performing, Marie does have the contacts to use a small recital hall at no charge.
